The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has called on Governor Ademola Adeleke to dissolve the state\’s executive council, citing the need for more capable hands to steer the administration. The APC’s appeal comes just weeks before the governor’s midterm anniversary.

In a statement released by Kola Olabisi, the party\’s Director of Media and Information, the APC expressed concerns about the current cabinet, claiming that many of the commissioners have failed to contribute effectively to the state\’s progress. \”The cabinet of Governor Adeleke is overdue for dissolution,\” the statement read, urging the governor to \”inject vibrant blood\” into his team for the betterment of Osun State.

The party further advised Governor Adeleke to select a team based on merit, rather than relying on political patronage. “Governor Adeleke should be courageous enough to choose his own team instead of relying on party leaders’ recommendations,” Olabisi stated. According to the APC, this has led to a situation where many commissioners are ill-suited for their roles, resulting in poor performance across various ministries.

Concerns About the Visibility and Impact of Commissioners

The APC’s statement also criticized the visibility and performance of the current cabinet members, noting that many remain unknown to the public. \”We never had it this bad in the state. Some of the commissioners are so obscure that even school pupils cannot name more than one or two of them,\” the party lamented. The APC argued that some members of the cabinet have become more focused on personal gains rather than public service, likening them to \”traditional farmers who use hoes for self-aggrandisement.\”

APC Calls for Audit of Appointed Aides

In addition to the cabinet reshuffle, the Osun APC is also calling for an audit of the aides appointed by Governor Adeleke. The party seeks clarity on the number and roles of political appointees, including Senior Special Assistants and Special Advisers, amid concerns that some of these individuals have no presence in the state. “It is our right to know the number and identities of political appointees whose salaries are funded by public money,” the APC stated.

The opposition party claims that despite Osun\’s economic challenges, Governor Adeleke\’s administration has appointed an unusually high number of political aides, a move the APC believes is unsustainable. They urged the governor to prioritize transparency and ensure that public resources are used effectively to benefit the people of the state.

The APC concluded by urging Governor Adeleke to take immediate action, stating that a midterm reshuffle is necessary to improve governance and ensure the administration delivers on its promises to the people of Osun State.
